Suppose you're a dedicated PvE player :
- of course, droknar armor and collector weapons will do the job. It's like in any rpg, like final fantasy or diablo. You can finish the game without any problem with commons weapons/items. But fissure armor is a goal for any pve player I think. Once you finished the game, what more to do?
- the economy, "lol", ectos stayed at their ~9k price... and now, spiked... like before the patch/reset. Ladies and gentlemen, don't go at school, don't go at work, one day, you'll see ectos at 300 gold at the merchant, it will be your turn to be rich
ridiculous, isn't it?
- I suggest also to buy and collect each item from collectors/crafters. The day they will be removed (hod sword...), you'll sell them for like 300k each !
ridiculous, isn't it?
- stop the pve joke and go pvp, oh wait, no, you're probably not rank6, get a warrior/ranger, a pet, an axe, a bow, send pets with bows, once they die, start shouting "i will avenge youuuuuuu!!!" and farm faction till rank6. (or even rank9, this is not a problem)
ridiculous, isn't it?
- also, try to find old movies of flesh golem farm, in perdition rock. it also works with griffons, ... and think about all this money you missed.
ridiculous, isn't it?
- go in trade forums, and see the peoples who made their fortune by buying a +15^50 fellblade req 8 for 2k to a newb, and reselling it 1000k, then re buying low and reselling high etc...
ridiculous, isn't it?
- that should be enough, to see that if you recently bought the game, you bought a totally different game that it used to be.

sure would but am i willing to pay the price for it?
NO WAY
so i play for the fun of it when i feel like it.
i also give away most of the imperfect golds/purples i find as lower level peeps seem to get a kick out of them.
one thank you is better than a few k in my opinion

Technically do you need to actually earn godly armor?

The hall of heroes is an excellent place to make a steady income if you can put up with the degenerate and random environment of tombs. With all the IWAY and that all the good teams flocked to gvg it's really not difficult anymore either. With sigils selling at 30k? (last time I checked, idk now) and an even splitting of the loot 3 holds alone is a good 33k. Even if you can't consistently work there it's a good goal to find likeminded folks and play with them often. Your victories will come sooner than you think, IWAY or not.
Trading is always a solid way if you are patient enough. It's not as good before the rune trader was put in but it's still a steady way for money if you can shift through the spam and dumb people.

Interesting, the only option left, buy from an unknow source on ebay. A clear violation of the "EULA". How hard is it to go to ebay, find the account of the online seller and cancel their account.
I know a little about servers, they are expensive to maintain, I cant imagine that my $50 will be enough to maintian my life time share of the server space.
So maybe GW has other ways of making money, and don't like the competition.

I still farm but, when I could a kill all the griffons at once it was.. fun. Now with the AoE nerf thingy where monsters run away from most AoE.. farming is hella boring. It's hack and slash for dmg and for a monk (or warrior), using shield of judgement and standing there can be INCREDIBLY boring and dreadful. Like Loviatar said, I'm holding onto my previously earned money and waiting for chapter 2. I'm sure there will be a few farmable areas with more skills like shield of judge, and massive groups to farm. Prolly real good drops too. If you want money seriously now, I prefer buy/sell, begging (heh..), scamming (I hope not though), soloing thirsty river mission (great money), or just going to one of the top spots in the game and coming up with a build to farm it.

one word: trading.
in the past 2 months ive been tutoring some of my guild members on how to make money via trading, and the ones who listen and are willing&able to put in the time, have made a comfortable living for themselves.
one of my officers has gotten himself 15k for all of his characters, and a few hundred thousand; nothing compared to be, but by large&far no small accomplishment.
another got his account broken into and lost about 150k, and hes still standing finiancially.
the potential for profit from trading is unparalleled compared to any other means, but the potential for loss is there, and it is ridiculously time-consuming in the begining (the mroe you trade the easier it gets).

Play the frickin game, you'll make money. Seems simple enough. I was able to bring my first char up doing all missions and quests, and was able to afford 15k armor when I wanted it. Quit ur bitchin.

Things beyond the basics shouldn't be handed out. ANET added pretty good items to collectors, and just by playing the game you can be decked out in the same 80af, max dmg 15>50 weapon as everyone else... it'll just look "plain" and not a unique look. Minimal farming will net droks armor easily. When my W/Mo was like lvl 14 farming griffons outside rankor I'd get ~500g in 10min or so per run.. and thats just selling to merchant. Play "merchant" in LA or Ascalon dist 1 every now and then (mixing things up in the game really make it more bearable... pvp -> pve mission -> pve farming -> playing merchant) and buy low sell high. Hang out on the forums, grab good deals and resell. I've built up a list of contacts ingame (farmers for the most part) that sell me in bulk cheap and I resell it slowly for profit.
Lots of ways to make money, its just not handed out for free.

With my main charecter i was able to make alittle over 100k by mostly selling common crafting supplies. I sold a few weapon but nothing over 18k. now with my mm i do alot of farming and i get alot of money that way but still i can get more money selling crafting materials and running.

So true, seriously unless you rush you'll have enough gold to get you through the game.

Why? I'm just curious. (not so much for the quoted poster, but for anyone who plays) What in god's green earth do you need to buy that you can't get by simply playing yourself? Is there something that you need that only the other person can get?
Really this game isn't too complicated, it's not meant to be a 'he who has the most gold wins' game. Yes I know that everyone's on their 500th character and doesn't want to 'bother' with actually playing.... geez what am I saying we all want the best character money can buy.

FoW armor, cool looking weapons, dyes, runes.
Of course, we don't *need* these things, but some people want them.
These items don't provide any kind of advantage, but are the only objective for pve-players when they complete the game with 4 chars.
And they dont hurt anyone farming/trading for these items.
Open your mind, there isn't PvP only...

It's the same as in real life. If you want that 500 thousand dollar sports car just to look cool with your friends, so be it. But you're fine in a crappy car too, but indeed, your friends wouldn't be so impressed.
Though, what I think is, people care about this too much. Actually, I'm one of the fewer ones (I'm one of the fewer ones with brains too btw), that has more respect for people with 1.5K Droknar's Forge armor which are doing a great job, then people with FoW Armor doing the same job. It's about the quality of the player, not about the quality of his impressiveness.

People with FoW armor wich are doing a great job are even better, don't you think?
I'm not saying that FoW armor should be cheap. I'm saying that conditions to buy it should remain steady over time.
Now you need 2 millions to buy it (more for warriors), and it's simply unfair.

america is just about the only place that you find this mentality. we are too "brand" only thinking. since our pop culture is spilling over to the rest of the world is it becoming more and more in other countries.
so do you pay $80 for that tommy t-shirt or go to wal-mart for a pack of 5 for $10? only difference is its got the tommy name on it so which is better?
the diamond industry is what really kills me. they only became "rare" in the 20s when a commercial said they were. you never heard of any talk of the rich empires ever having diamonds pre 1850. btw, they aren't even "rare" they can be created.

It's not only the mentality that was previously stated, there's another issue. And that issue is that everybody looks EXACTLY THE SAME. Some people don't like walking into their clone every day, and I'm one of them. I do everything I can so my characters can look pretty and not in the same was as Joe and Josephine. Granted, I hate farming, so this is a long process for me.
